Welcome to Castanea Township …

Castanea Township was incorporated in December of 1877. The township is located in eastern Clinton County, bordered to the north by the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and to the south by Lamar and Bald Eagle Townships. The township encompasses a total of 6 square miles with a population of 1,095 (2020 Census).

Work Session – Date and Time Change

The Work Session scheduled for July 15, 2024 has been moved to July 22, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the Township Building, 347 Nittany Road Lock Haven, PA.

Observance of 4th of July

Castanea Township will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024 and will reopen on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 8 am.

ATV and Golf Cart Survey

Township Supervisors are conducting a survey in response to interested residents potential use of ATVs and golf carts in the Township. Please complete the survey by June 30, 2024. Printed surveys are also available at the Township Office, 347 Nittany Road Lock Haven, PA during normal business hours.

PennDOT Announces Start of Clinton County Bridge Project

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a start date of Monday, April 29, for a rehabilitation project on two bridges along Route 220 in Castanea Township in Clinton County. The overpass bridges span Lower Creek Road at mile marker 112 of Route 220.  This work will improve the overall condition and safety of the structures and improve ride quality for motorists.

PennDOT will implement a single-lane closure on 220 North-bound in late July/early August for one day only. Self-regulated stop signs will be in place beneath the bridges on Lower Creek Road to provide traffic control for single-lane closures.
