Castanea Township was incorporated in December of 1877. The township is located in eastern Clinton County, bordered to the north by the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and to the south by Lamar and Bald Eagle Townships. The township encompasses a total of 6 square miles with a population of 1,095 (2020 Census).

Castanea Township office will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving. Office hours will be Tuesday, November 25th from 10 am to 3 pm and Friday, November 28th from 12 pm to 4 pm.

Starting November 28, 2025 and moving forward, the Township will only collect bagged leaves. As always, feel free to email us at info@castaneatownshippa.gov or call 570-748-9070 to let us know you bagged leaves to collect by providing your address.
Zoning Appeals Board
The Castanea Township Supervisors are accepting letters of interest to serve on the Zoning Appeals Board. Applicants can send their letter of interest to Castanea Township, 347 Nittany Road, Lock Haven, PA 17745, email secretary@castaneatownshippa.gov, or can drop off at the Township Building.
