Castanea Township was incorporated in December of 1877. The township is located in eastern Clinton County, bordered to the north by the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and to the south by Lamar and Bald Eagle Townships. The township encompasses a total of 6 square miles with a population of 1,095 (2020 Census).

Office Closed:
The Township Office will be closed August 24 – 28, 2026. The Township Office will reopen on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Board of Supervisor – Meeting Schedule Change:
The Castanea Board of Supervisor’s Meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026 has been rescheduled Monday, September 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Casteana Township Office – 347 Nittany Road.

Tax Collection Update:
Beginning this year, your Castanea Township property tax bills will be issued by Berkheimer. Township Supervisors approved this change last year, selecting Berkheimer to serve as the tax collector at a reduced cost compared to previous years. Your County taxes are still being collected by Keystone Central.
Castanea Township Leaf Collection:
The Township will only collect bagged leaves. As always, feel free to email us at info@castaneatownshippa.gov or call 570-748-9070 to let us know you bagged leaves to collect by providing your address. Collection will generally be on the weekends.
