Castanea Township was incorporated in December of 1877. The township is located in eastern Clinton County, bordered to the north by the West Branch of the Susquehanna River and to the south by Lamar and Bald Eagle Townships. The township encompasses a total of 6 square miles with a population of 1,095 (2020 Census).

Castanea Township Leaf Collection:
As a service to residents, the Township will be picking up small bundles of yard debris from fall yard clean-up. Brush and tree limbs in no longer than 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter. Leaves can be raked or blown into piles curbside, not on roadway or in culverts. This will start October 19th and continue through the month of November. During that time, no bagged leaves will be collected. After November, Township Employees will only collect bagged leaves.

Tax Collection Update:
Beginning this year, your Castanea Township property tax bills will be issued by Berkheimer. Township Supervisors approved this change last year, selecting Berkheimer to serve as the tax collector at a reduced cost compared to previous years. Your County taxes are still being collected by Keystone Central.
